1. Define the disciplines of Management and Organizational Behavior 2. Explain and apply key Management and Organizational Behavior concepts, theories, and principles including: a. Recognizing, naming, and describing major Management and OB theories (e.g., motivational theories to predict individual and group behavior) b. Identifying and applying the Management and OB concepts and theories to specific situations as well as personal experiences. 3. Identifying how and why these disciplines contribute to the effectiveness of an organization. 4. Describe the management functions of planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling. 5. Define the characteristics that make up organizational culture. 6. Explain how culture is transmitted to employees. 7. Describe basic strategic management tools and approaches for sustainable competitive advantage. 8. Explain the sources of interpersonal power in an organizational setting. 9. Describe how theories of “perception and attribution” can help to maximize the effectiveness of organizational communication and employee interactions. 10. Apply human resource management techniques (e.g., recruitment, selection, training, development, performance evaluation) to a variety of business situations and with a diverse workforce. 11. Demonstrate understanding of diversity as a business management strategy.
